Hello (I Love You) - Roger Waters 7" Single

This 7 inch single of Roger Waters' song from the soundtrack of the movie "The Last Mimzy", was released together with the book "Pink Floyd on Forty-Five", the Pink Floyd 7 inch discography book. This is a limited edition which came with only the first 1000 copies of the book, and my copy is number 0248. the single looks exactly as the 12 inch single, only resized for 7 inch and got different catalogue number. Pink Floyd On Forty-Five – Book by Charles Beterams

This book was published this month and arrived shortly after to me. This book is a definitive discography of the band's 7-inch singles from all over the world, from countries such as Angola, Costa-Rica, Egypt, Zimbabwe and Kenya to all Europe countries, Australia, South America countries and the U.S.

In this book you can find not only official releases of the band but also promotional copies that weren't suppose to get to the public. Every country has its own chapter which includes discographies of not only the band but also its members' all in chronological order. The book also includes a selection of test pressings and acetates. All singles are presented in color together with release notes. The writer claims that this is not a full discography, although it includes

The book has a hard cover, is black with a pink stripe on the side, Pink Floyd is written in pink and On Forty-Five is written in white. On the front cover there is a picture of the 7-inch single See Emily Play from Spain and the back cover has a collage of about 25 singles, together with some words about the book.

A personal note: This book is a must have for all Pink Floyd vinyl collectors out there. Any purchase of Pink Floyd stuff makes me happy, but i'm not sure about this one. It makes me think about not being able to obtain all of the 7-inch singles one day...

Live In Gdansk - 5 Disc Deluxe Edition

קופסא זו מתעדת את ההופעה האחרונה של סיבוב ההופעות של דיוויד גילמור ב-2006. ההופעה התקיימה ב-26 לאוגוסט במספנת גדנסק שבפולין, מקום בו התרחשה מהפכה בשנת 1980, ונכחו בה 50000 אנשים. בהופעה לקחו חלק גם התזמורת הפילהרמונית הפולנית-באלטית בניצוחו של זיגנייב פריזנר וההרכב הקבוע שהופיע עם גילמור בכל סיבוב ההופעות. ב-1980 שבתו 17000 עובדי חצר הספינות בהנהגתו של לך ואלנסה (לימים נשיא פולין וזוכה פרס נובל), במהומות נהרגו כמה עשרות אנשים ולאחר מכן הוקם ארגון "סולידריות" בראשותו של ואלנסה, ארגון הסחר הלא-קומוניסטי הראשון במדינה קומוניסטית. המהלך היה לאבן דרך בנפילתו של הקומוניזם במזרח אירופה. במהלך ביקורו של גילמור בגדנסק הוא נפגש עם לך ואלנסה וביקר גם באנדרטה לזכרם של הרוגי האירועים של 1980.

המארז עשוי קרטון איכותי ועבה, נפתח כמו ספר ומכיל 5 דיסקים מתוכם 2 DVD. על צידה הקדמי של העטיפה ישנה תמונה של הבמה תוך כדי ההופעה. בצידה האחורי יש את הפירוט על תכולת הדיסקים וקרדיטים. הדיסק הראשון (אודיו) מכיל את חלקה הראשון של ההופעה שנפתח עם כמה שירים מ"הצד האפל של הירח" ולאחר מכן כל האלבום "על אי" של דיוויד. הדיסק השני (אודיו) מכיל את חלקה השני של ההופעה ובו שירים של פינק פלויד מכל התקופות, כמו גם השיר A GREAT DAY FOR FREEDOM שזאת הפעם היחידה שהוא הופיע בסיבוב ההופעות הזה. הדיסק השלישי (וידאו) מכיל את סרט ההופעה בחוסר של 7 שירים. את חלקם החסירו מפאת חוסר מקום על הדיסק ואת חלקם בגלל טעויות בהופעה שיכלו לערוך בדיסק האודיו אבל לא בוידאו. בנוסף מכיל דיסק זה סרט דוקומנטרי על ההכנות להופעה והביקור באיזור, אורך הסרט בערך 37 דקות. דיסק ארבע (וידאו) מכיל כמה שירים מתאטרון מרמייד בלונדון (עוד כמה שירים משם ניתן למצוא בDVD "זכור את הלילה"), שני שירים מהקלטות AOL שביצע גילמור באפריל 2006 ושלושה שירים מהופעתו של גילמור לBBC באולפני "אבי רואד". בנוסף יש 3 קטעי וידאו שנקראים BARN JAM אשר הוקלטו באנגליה בינואר 2007 באסם כלשהו ומכאן שמם. ועוד לא סיימנו עם הדיסק הזה כי ניתן גם למצוא בו גרסת סראונד 5.1 של אלבומו האחרון של גילמור "על אי". הדיסק החמישי (אודיו) מכיל שירים מכל סיבוב ההופעות של גילמור ב-2006: ונציה, פריס, וינה, מינכן, גלאזגו ועוד. חלק מהשירים כאן לא הופיעו בגדנסק כמו DOMINOS, ON THE TURNING AWAY ועוד.

המארז לא מסתכם רק בדיסקים, בנוסף יש קצת פרטי אספנות ומזכרות. בפנים ישנה חוברת עם יותר מ-20 עמודים ובתוכה רשימת השירים, קרדיטים לכל מי שלקח חלק בהופעה, תמונות מההופעה וסיפורו של ארגון "סולידריות" הפולני. בנוסף ישנו פוסטר דו-צדדי עם תמונה מההופעה בצד אחד ותמונה של גילמור על רקע אנדרטת גדנסק בצידה השני. כמו-כן ישנם גלויה וסטיקר של המופע, העתק של כרטיס להופעה ואישור כניסה אל מאחורי הבמה של האומנים ושבע צמונות מההופעה והביקור בגדנסק בגודל 10 על 15. למוזיקאים שבינינו, ישנו בפנים גם מפרט לגיטרה עם כיתוב "דיוויד גילמור גדנסק" בצד אחד ובצד השני הציור של האיש עם הגיטרה.

ההופעה עצמה מדהימה, יש בה כמה רגעי שיא במיוחד היום כשריצ'ארד רייט כבר לא איתנו ואפשר להרגיש את החיבור ביניהם. זו הייתה גם הופעתו הלפני אחרונה של רייט טרם מותו. את חלק מקטעי הבונוס כבר ראינו בשנתיים האחרונות בטלוויזיה ובאינטרנט אך חלקם עדיין מפתיעים וחלקם חדשים וטובים לא פחות.

Richard William Wright 1943 - 2008

ריצ'ארד וויליאם רייט, קלידן להקת פינק פלויד ואחד ממייסדי הלהקה, נפטר אתמול ממחלת הסרטן בגיל 65. ריק לא היה במיטבו בשנים האחרונות אך את המחלה הסתיר מהציבור. הוא נפטר לאחר מאבק קצר מאוד עם המחלה. ריק לא בלט במשך השנים בלהקה ולרוב לא קיבל את הקרדיט שבאמת מגיע לו, למרות שהיה כשרון ענק, יוצר ענק ותרומתו תיזכר לעד, אובדן גדול לעולם.

No one can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and my friend.

In the welter of arguments about who or what was Pink Floyd, Rick's enormous input was frequently forgotten.

He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognised Pink Floyd sound.

I have never played with anyone quite like him. The blend of his and my voices and our musical telepathy reached their first major flowering in 1971 on 'Echoes'. In my view all the greatest PF moments are the ones where he is in full flow. After all, without 'Us and Them' and 'The Great Gig In The Sky', both of which he wrote, what would 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' have been? Without his quiet touch the Album 'Wish You Were Here' would not quite have worked.

In our middle years, for many reasons he lost his way for a while, but in the early Nineties, with 'The Division Bell', his vitality, spark and humour returned to him and then the audience reaction to his appearances on my tour in 2006 was hugely uplifting and it's a mark of his modesty that those standing ovations came as a huge surprise to him, (though not to the rest of us).

Like Rick, I don't find it easy to express my feelings in words, but I loved him and will miss him enormously.
