David Gilmour - Blue Light 12" Extebded Version - 1984

This is the extended version of the song 'Blue Light', taken from the David Gilmour's 1984 album 'About Face. It It introduces 2 versions of the remix, one of these is an instrumental version. It is a promo version and has a golden stamp on the back cover, saying: "FOR PROMOTION ONLY, Ownership Reserved By CBS, Sail Is Unlawful", and on the label is written "DEMONSTRATION - NOT FOR SALE". It was remixed by Francois Kevorkian and Frank Filipetti, who didn't actually add any elements to it but rather just lengthened the instrumental breaks. Kavorkian is a French DJ, producer, remixer and a record label owner, and has remixed songs for artists like U2, The Smiths, Kraftwerk, Mick Jagger, King Crimson and much more.

Blue light was the first single released from the album. It is a disco-pop number and really fits the atmosphere of the era at that time, and received considerable airplay on MTV back in 1984. Personally, I don't like this song.

Lyrics:

She's a blue light, yes it cannot be denied
She will give you back your pride
She squeezes, she freezes, she does what she pleases
But she says she thinks of others, all the time

You must rise to her defense when she's in danger
Turn around and you're looking at a stranger
She steals your savings from under your bed
And leads you into places even angels fear to tread
She's a blue light

She's not amused, when you're trying to upstage her
So you choose to do nothing to enrage her
'Cause under her mantle you feel safe from the cold
And you're safe from the danger of ever growing old
She's a blue light
